Shaft Sleeve

Shaft Sleeves are the devices which are cylindrically hollow metal tube placed over the shaft to protect as it passes through packing. Its major task is to protect the shaft from packing the wear at the stuffing box. It is situated between the two multistage pump impellors in conjunction with the inter-stage bushing. Its work is to form an inter-stage leakage joint which is known as inter-stage or the distance sleeve. These shaft sleeves are made of steel alloys of different categories.

The shaft sleeves are having protection from erosion, corrosion and to the wear occurring at leakage joints, seal chambers, and in the waterways by the other sleeves. They are made of alloys which are having high resistance to corrosion through oxidation and through different types of atmospheric components. They are also resistive to moisture and to steam.
